FAQ
Q. Can I choose the wood grain when ordering?
A.
We do not offer wood grain selection for online orders, except for purchases made in person at select events or exhibitions.
Each Kocon pedestal is crafted from Japanese cedar, embracing its natural individuality—knots, hairline cracks, flowing or straight grain, and subtle shifts in tone.
We regard these variations as part of the piece's character, and we do not accept returns or exchanges based on such differences.
Thank you for your understanding.
Q. Do you accept custom size orders?
A.
Yes, we accept made-to-order requests.
Please contact us with your desired dimensions, quantity, and delivery timeline via our contact form.
Due to production constraints, we may not always be able to fulfill every request, but we will respond with availability and a quote.
Custom planning requires time in addition to our regular production schedule, so we recommend reaching out well in advance.
For changes in height only (for standard top sizes 275×275mm or 350×350mm), we can usually accommodate more smoothly.
Q. The tile joints on the top have developed small cracks.
A.
Each top is composed of cedar blocks cut along the growth rings and finished with elastic tile joint filler.
This design is both decorative and functional—it allows for the natural expansion and contraction of wood.
However, sudden changes in humidity or temperature during shipping or installation may cause visible cracks along the joints.
These are superficial and do not affect structural integrity or safe use.
If the appearance concerns you, gently rubbing solid beeswax into the surface can help smooth and restore the finish.
Avoid placing the piece near windows, vents, or in areas with sharp environmental changes, as these conditions may encourage further cracking.
Q. Is it waterproof?
A.
Kocon pedestals are finished with a blend of natural oil and beeswax, offering modest resistance to daily moisture and stains.
However, they are not waterproof and are not suitable for outdoor use or environments with consistent water exposure.
If water splashes onto the surface—for example, during flower care—please wipe it off promptly to avoid staining.
Q. How should I care for the piece?
A.
Acidic liquids like vinegar, or alkaline substances like baking soda or bleach, may react with the wood and cause discoloration.
For routine care, gently wipe with a dry or tightly wrung cloth.
Frequent use of alcohol-based solvents may dull the surface over time.
To maintain a natural sheen and some stain resistance, you may apply a thin coat of natural beeswax as needed.
Q. Do you offer repair services?
A.
We’re happy to propose the best repair option depending on the damage.
Please reply to your original order email and attach photos clearly showing the affected areas.
Unless the issue is due to an initial defect, shipping costs and repair fees will be the responsibility of the customer. Please note that unless it is an initial defect, the customer is responsible for shipping costs, and repairs will be charged.
